Abstract: | Fins or extended surfaces are extensively used in engineering applications to increase the efficiency of heat transfer of surfaces. Recent applications in compact heat exchangers increase interest in easy and applicable models for fin systems. A generalized one-dimensional radial fin model has been developed, where the modified power series expansion, the "Frobenius" method, is applied to a specific geometry. The comparison between two models, one-dimensional and two-dimensional, was presented to determine the thermal characteristics in a simple fin system.
