Corrosion Behavior of AISI 304 and AISI 430 Stainless Steels in Presence of Benzimidazole Inhibitor

Abstract:	The corrosion behavior of AISI 304 and AISI 430 stainless steels was investigated in 3.0 wt. % NaCl solutions in the presence and absence of benzimidazole inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency was evaluated at six different inhibitor concentrations, and for all concentrations, an increase in corrosion potential were observed. The AFM measurements showed that the average pit depth values with inhibitor were at least 8 times lesser than the values obtained in the absence of benzimidazole inhibitor for both alloys. Impedance results showed that it is possible to calculate the inhibition efficiency from Rp-values obtained by EIS measurements
